For the second time in two years, Aituaki has been chosen for a starring role on UK television  Once again, it's the location for the new series of Channel 4's reality show, 'Shipwrecked".   And it's following in the footsteps of the American CBS network which used it for their similar show 'Survivor Cook Islands' (for a behind the scenes story of that programme, click here).
The opening titles of the 2007 series featured fantastic aerial shots of the lagoon and the Moturakau and Ripota motus (islets) where the contestants spent 5 months "doing battle".

Millions more people watched 'Shipwrecked' than have visited Aitutaki in its entire history.  And the Cook Islands tourism department hope the show will encourage some of them to get shipwrecked there for themselves!
