WEB LINKS
The following is a list of sites that I hope you might find interesting or useful.   They're nothing to do with the Cook Islands.   If you're looking for sites which are about the islands, click here.

I tried literally dozens of products before finding this one.  It's simplicity itself to use - I've never designed a web site before, so it must be easy!!!!   And creation is done using WYSIWG (what you see is what you get) - in other words, you build the pages and you see what they look like as you go along.   There's absolutely no coding needed, thank goodness.  It costs US$49, but it's worth every cent in my opinion.  I particularly liked their approach to evaluation as well.  You can download the full product and try it out for 30 days.  And it only counts the days you actually use it, rather than giving you 30 calendar days.   Click here for the company's home page
The MENU on this web site is thanks to Dynamicdrive.com.  They provide free original DHTML scripts and components which use the latest DHTML and JavaScript  technology.  Not sure what I'm going on about...well, neither am I.  What it comes down to is that you can take some scripts they've created, modify them to suit your needs and use them on your web site for nothing!   It really is easy.
MY PERSONAL FAVOURITES....
SITES THAT MADE THIS SITE POSSIBLE....
I'm a great cat lover, and our home is ruled by a very loveable moggy called Toby (Mr Toby Smudge if you want to use his very posh name!) .  If you're into cats, you'll love one of my favourite sites on the net. It's called, quite simply, Cat Stuff, and it's  full of graphics, articles, information, stories, software...everything to do with cats. Purr-fect!
Makuini Menehira is the wife of a friend, and a lady with a wonderful voice that you have to hear.   Makuini (pronounced Ma-Queenie) was born in Wanganui in New Zealand.  She studied at the prestigious St. Mary's College in Auckland where she was tutored  for 8 years in opera, by the world renowned, Dame Sister Mary Leo, teacher to many of New Zealand's great international singers including Dame Kiri Te Kawana and Dame Malvina Major. She lived for a time in the Cook Islands, and her home is now in Cheshire..the same county I live in.  She's released a new album which is stunning. You can listen to excerpts and learn more about this amazing performer by clicking here
A VERY SPECIAL ONE....
Toby - like our two cats before him came from the UK's oldest and largest feline charity, The Cat's Protection League.  They rescue and rehome unwanted and abandoned cats.  Please pay their web site a visit.   Not only will you learn about all their wonderful work, there's also loads of information about caring for cats, a fabulous photo gallery and details of how you can help the charity.

The Globetrotters Club is a international network for independent travellers around the world.  It's free to join and you'll receive a bimonthly newsletter and membership listing offering hospitality, info and advice.

Climate change is one of the biggest threats to the future of the Cook Islands.  With many of the islands very low lying, it won' take much of a rise in sea levels to wipe them out.  Now you can help the scientists trying to forecast the climate in the 21st century just by downloading some software which runs when you're not using your PC.  Go to Climateprediction.net for more details.   Play your part in helping to safeguard our planet against the threat of global warming.
This web site was DESIGNED by me with the help of a tool produced by a privately owned company in the USA called Virtual Mechanics.
This site is HOSTED by 1&1 Internet.  I chose them after a lot of searching because I think they're great value, and provide a 24 hour help line which is genuinely helpful.   They also provide lots of free stuff to build and enhance your web site.  Find out more about them by clicking on the flashing icon on the left.
The buttons on the front page, meanwhile, were created on line at a nifty little site called Buttongenerator.   You can also design your own menus.
ALSO RECOMMENDED....
There's no doubting the power of Google in the search engine world, but if you want something that is particularly good at indexing New Zealand and the South Pacific, try www.linknz.co.nz.
And if you're looking for information on other South Pacific countries, or indeed any country in the world, have a look at the  fascinating One World - Nations Online Project

Impartial travel advice is hard to come by on the internet so I was really pleased to find a site that genuinely provides it.  Travel Library has reviews of destinations, accommodation and features personal travelogues.  Definitely worth a look wherever you're going.  There are links to commercial sites, but that doesn't affect its independence.
